It’s not a desktop replacement unless there’s enough processing power to tackle any multimedia task

You’ll notice a little mouse pointer on screen. Tap and drag your finger around the text you want to select, which will turn pink, as shown. When you’re done, text gets copied to the clipboard automatically.
The Samsung lasted two hours and 33 minutes in our excruciating battery life test. For a 6-cell lithium-ion toshiba portege m400 battery this is actually rather good. In fact, this is the best time for any of the laptops equipped with one.
It doesn’t skimp on system memory either, giving you the full 4GB of DDR3 (the Lenovo Z560, in comparison, comes with 3GB). Video encoding and Cinebench R10 tests for the Gateway ID49C07u were in line with the Asus U30Jc-1A and Dell( dell df192 ) 14R, scoring 54 seconds and 7,077, respectively.

Despite the laptop having Dolby Advanced Audio processing the front-firing Altec Lansing-branded stereo speakers sound thin and far from immersive. They’re fine for casual listening at reasonable volumes, but if you intend to use this as an entertainment system, you’ll want to grab a set of external speakers. Lastly, located above the screen is a Webcam and microphone, which worked well in our Skype video tests.
The 15.6-inch wide-screen LCD offers a 1,366×768-pixel native resolution, which is standard for a screen this size. The display gets sufficiently bright; movies look good on it; and text and icons are highly readable. Like most laptop displays, it has a sweet spot for the best color and contrast; off-angle viewing is mediocre.

The 2.27GHz Intel Core i3-350M processor isn’t as fast as the Intel Core i5-450M CPU found in the HP( hp pavilion tx1000 battery ) dv6-3033cl and the Intel Core i5-430M CPU in the SamsungR580, but it’s speedy enough so that all your high-end applications won’t miss a beat.
That’s reflected in fast frame rates on our benchmark tests: Unreal Tournament III ran at a surprising 76.8 frames per second at 1,280×720-pixel resolution. For more modern games, we didn’t see quite the same results, but Transformers: War on Cybertron ran at a decent clip and was very playable. Coupled with Nvidia’s Optimus graphics-switching technology, the 310M GPU switches itself on and off when needed to save battery life. We applaud that concept, but in practice we found disappointing results on the battery-life front.
